Job Description

The Sr Accounting Manager is responsible for all aspects of the general ledger and supervision of corporate accounting functions, including but not limited to the general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets and payroll. The successful candidate will have strong analytical, technical, communication and organizational skills. Typical job duties include but are not limited to:
 
 Supervises General Ledger Accounting Staff, Accounts Payable Manager and Payroll Manager. 
 Manages all accounting operations, including the general ledger and accounting, accounts payable, and payroll. 
 Understands all relevant accounting issues surrounding transactions, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), income tax, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and provides guidance to direct reports on proper accounting and analysis. 
 Manages the monthly/quarterly close process, ensuring transactions are properly recorded and results are fully analyzed within defined timelines. 
 Researches and identifies errors and process improvements in all areas of responsibility. Develops solutions and implements them. 
 Reviews and approves account analyses and reconciliations. Reviews and approves journal   entries.
 
 Evaluates, implements and maintains a strong control environment appropriate for an SEC registrant compliant with Sarbanes Oxley. 
 Provides ongoing training and mentoring to direct reports. Performs semi-annual performance reviews. 
 Understands Oracle General Ledger setup and assists with maintaining values. 
 Researches projects and problems, develops solutions and implements necessary corrections, and ensures that established accounting procedures are followed and accurate records are maintained.
 
 May perform such other assignments as the Controller may deem necessary from time to time.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Public accounting experience and CPA strongly preferred. Management experience in private industry also required. Minimum of eight years experience in financial accounting with at least five years in a supervisory capacity.

Position requires strong technical accounting skills and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) is preferred. Extensive experience with Oracle Financial Applications required. An understanding of business administration, best practices and principles, including people management skills is required. Candidate must have strong PC skills and be able to work in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel and Word. Candidate must be able to deal effectively and harmoniously with people at all levels of the organization and to represent the firm professionally. This position requires excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to supervise multiple staff positions.

CPA, either active or inactive, strongly preferred.
