Our Seattle office is currently seeking a Business Development Manager to assist with all aspects of our business development activities for our Environmental practice in the Pacific Northwest.
Responsibilities:
Provide Strategic Assistance and Support Client Relationship Maintenance and Development
- Conduct ongoing strategic planning implementation reviews with local management
- Assist senior technical staff with client relationship management
- Analyze RFPs and RFQs and participate in go/no go analyses with senior technical staff and management.
Market Tracking
- Identify opportunities for submittals, responses, interviews, presentations, and related activities.
- Track opportunities from publically available sources for key clients (both commercial and public)
Manage Proposal Support Team
Supervise, manage and develop support personnel to ensure proposal and BD activities proceed efficiently.
Proposals & Interviews
- Prepare proposals through the following activities, both directly and through the efforts of support staff:
- Outline complete submission requirements for proposals and SOQs and check development of prepared materials for compliance with client-specified requirements.
- Communicate submission requirements and milestone dates to capture teams, and coordinate with the capture manager, project manager, proposal team members, and sub consultant to acquire content for proposals, SOQs, and presentations. Follows up with content contributors to ensure timely receipt of appropriate materials.
- Draft, write, re-write, compile and edit qualifications and other sections for proposals, SOQs, and SF-330s, to include such items as resumes, project experience narratives, company profiles, section introductions, and cover letters.
- Produce and/or incorporates accompanying proposal graphics: project organization charts, diagrams, tables, photographs, RFP required forms, certifications and other documentation.
- Support Proposal Review Teams. Organize materials for management review teams. Attend “red team” or other review meetings, articulates rationale, and substantiates compliance with client defined requirements during review meetings. Implements proposal/presentation revisions based on direction from review team.
- Works with graphic designers, print shop, and printing vendors, as needed, to develop and produce proposal graphics and to produce printed submission materials. Organize final production of proposals, SOQs, and PowerPoint presentations, and arrange shipping as needed.
- Participates in quality control review of materials produced for completeness, correctness, and compliance with requirements.
- Provide required company qualifications materials to prime consultants when the firm is serving in a sub consultant role.
- Assist with interview preparation
Business Development Administration:
Ensure AECOM databases are updated with new material acquired during proposal preparation, as appropriate.
Provide BD updates to the local staff and to management, verbally and through written summaries.
Coordinate with other AECOM BD/marketing managers as necessary
Participate in other business development and marketing related tasks as needed and as requested.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, marketing, engineering or related field
- More than 5 years’ relevant business development or marketing experience
- Prior experience working in an engineering consulting firm
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign
- A detailed knowledge of marketing procedures, document and presentation production methods, proposal quality, and proposal processes
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the firm’s business
- Strong layout and design ability
