Description
SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for installing/servicing alarm systems in designated locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install Company authorized equipment in customer homes and businesses in accordance with established standards and procedures
Design layout of the system utilizing thorough knowledge of the equipment and its capabilities
Assist in the promotion and sale of extra equipment
Test backup batteries, keypad programming and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions
Safely operate the assigned Company vehicle and ensure that it is maintained according to manufacturer's specifications
Demonstrate systems for customers, and explain details such as the causes and consequences of false alarms
Keep informed of new products and developments
Maintain established minimum performance standards after completion of initial training period
Coordinate with Company personnel by telephone and computer to adequately test the completed system and initiate the account in the customer database
Provide a thorough explanation of the Protective Service Agreement, system capabilities and system operation to the customer
Accurately completes all necessary paperwork, including but not limited to work orders, service orders, time logs and emergency information schedules
Maintain inventory control of assigned equipment to ensure adequate stock levels. Participate in formal inventory each week
Maintain control of all assigned Company property and ensures that equipment is maintained in safe operating condition at all times
Exhibit appearance and conduct in accordance with established Company standards to present a professional image to the customer and the general public, including but not limited to wearing Company provided uniform
Maintain the highest standards of decency, honesty and integrity as a guest in a customer's home
Provide training when required, for assigned Installation Technicians in all of the above duties
Ensure availability by telephone at all times when on call

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED required. Minimum one year performing similar duties, preferably in the home security, cable TV, telephone service or home improvement industries.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read/comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees. Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to troubleshoot/diagnose operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver's license. Electrician License. Trade licenses, registrations in accordance with state/local regulations as required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficiency with computer hardware components/software packages. Must be able to read/interpret road maps. Must be flexible and possess excellent time management, project management, and organizational skills. Attention to detail and confidentiality a must.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must me capable of sitting and driving for extended periods of time depending on the geographic size of the service area. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, bend, kneel, crawl and stoop while working; use hands-to-finger; handle and/or feel objects; handle and properly use common power and hand tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will consistently be required to work from high places such as roofs, ceilings, ladders, as well as from crawl spaces and other limited spaces within/outside of homes/businesses. The employee must be able to safely move and lift materials/equipment weighing up to 25 on a routine basis, and on limited occasions up to 50 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision. The employee must have excellent hand eye coordination. The employee must maintain alertness at all times in the work environment he/she is assigned to and not be easily distracted.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to work in inside/outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock, fumes and airborne particles, and extreme cold/hot. The employee frequently works in high precarious areas as well as limited spaces such as attics/crawl spaces; and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and pets/animals. The employee will have to climb and work from ladders or lifts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
