Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Chemcial Data Acquisition Engineer investigates new-to-Pentair / new-to-the-world technology, products and processes, and then designs and conducts test programs to demonstrate the performance and applicability of the technology to fill market needs. The Chemcial Data Acquisition Engineer also implements, programs for, and maintains laboratory and field data acquisition systems and supports continuous improvements in the lab.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and evaluate new water treatment process technologies for commercialization by the product development engineering groups. Discovers new knowledge about products and processes, and then applies that knowledge creating new and improved products and processes that fill market needs and to ensure the engineering mission, goals, and objectives are attained.  Plans, implements, and analyzes tests in the lab and in the field using data acquisition systems, including identifying opportunities for monitoring and controls, specifying equipment, installation, and troubleshooting.  

                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Assists in competitive product evaluation programs. Monitor technical journals and patents for new technologies, products, or applications in the water treatment industry. As required, perform testing and analysis of competitive products or processes, including lab evaluations, paper studies, and patent evaluations.    

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Maintains Maintains department reports and records.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: 
Minimum 4-year degree in a physical science or engineering plus 5 years experience in water treatment processes.
Experience with data acquisition equipment and Lab View programming. 
Previous project management experience. Experience in an analytical problem-solving role.
Skilled in the assembly of plumbing, electrical and mechanical apparatus, familiar with water treatment processes (i.e. ion exchange, filtration and membrane processes). 
Knowledge of chemical processes, procedures, and material compatibility. 
Proficient in the use of spreadsheet and word processing software.
Experience in Design of Experiments and statistical analysis.
 
EDUCATION OR DEGREE REQUIRED:
Four-year engineering or physical science degree required. Additional schooling in the physical sciences/chemistry is a plus.
 
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
Water Quality Association CWS I- VI Preferred
 
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED:
Previous work experience with data acquisition hardware and software required. Previous work experience in a laboratory or the water treatment industry is required.
 
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must be able to analyze a process and propose mechanisms, improvements, and testing protocols. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities. Can work independently and demonstrate initiative. Demonstrates good math, verbal and written communications skills to facilitate public speaking, talking on the telephone, writing and listening. Capable of reading and writing in English to complete lab reports for internal and external customers. Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and data acquisition programs (LabView, etc). Capable of specifying and setting up systems to monitor and control tests, analyze data and generate test reports using data acquisition tools. 
 
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS SPECIFIC TO THIS POSITION:
Walking, standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs. Use of hand tools required to assemble and install test systems. Use of a computer. Must be able to read and speak English.
