General Summary
The primary role of the Assistant/Associate Marketing Manager is to support the Sr. Marketing Manager's efforts in developing and launching Seasonal Gifting Collections that delivers against consumer needs and overall business performance to achieve internal profitability goals.

The roles and responsibilities of the Assistant/Associate Marketing Manager may include the following:
  • Develop and manage several key seasonal collections
  • Execute seasonal gifting portion of the annual marketing and promotional plan
  • Lead and manage marketing and promotional activities for seasonal collections
  • Track and analyze ongoing seasonal sales performance via internal data systems and syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen)
  • Analyze and develop reporting on post-seasonal results, including marketplace and competitive evaluation
  • Support development and management of opportunistic Wholesale business propositions
  • Manage seasonal collection marketing and promotional budgets

    A significant part of the role is to develop and execute against several key seasonal collections by managing critical, time-sensitive timelines as well as a large cross functional team, consisting of creative/design, product development, packaging engineering, procurement and supply chain. This role also works closely with Merchandising/Sales Channels to ensure that the optimal product and price mix is offered at any given season while still delivering profitability goals/gross margin targets set by Finance. Every post-season, this role alongside Merchandising/Sales Channels will work closely to assess overall performance, strengths and weaknesses of the collection, recommend solutions for future collections and present findings to senior leaders of Godiva.

    To be successful in this role, the Assistant/Associate Marketing Manager must be highly detailed-oriented, keenly aware of deadlines/overall project timelines and have the ability to be both creative and analytical. This individual needs to be a strong communicator, a solution-seeker and solid team player. Team-orientation and organizational-savvy are key attributes to have in order to gain alignment and work effectively across a matrix environment.

    Principal Accountabilities
    1. 50% - Develop and manage several key seasonal collections from concept to execution/launch. Support Sr. Marketing Manager to develop optimal product/price mix that is agreed upon with Merchandising/Sales Channels, write creative and sku briefs to initiate projects, manage Gateways to ensure project completion in timely fashion, gain Finance approval that collections have met/exceeded margin targets, coordinate weekly cross-functional team meetings and manage team communication via meeting minutes and recaps
    2. 25% - Track and analyze ongoing seasonal sales performance via internal data systems (GEBIS) and syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen). Analyze and develop reporting on post-seasonal results, including marketplace and competitive evaluation
    3. 15% - Execute seasonal gifting portion of the annual marketing and promotional plan. Lead and manage marketing and promotional activities for seasonal collections, including necessary analysis to ensure positive ROI on programming
    4. 10%- Manage seasonal collection marketing and promotional budgets, including invoice process & tracking, monthly closes, re-forecasting, accruals, etc.


  • Job Complexity
    1. Support Sr. Marketing Manager in developing and executing launch of 3 key seasonal collections within tight timelines while managing a highly inter-dependent cross-functional team
    2. Need to be a strong and frequent communicator with cross-functional team, Merchandising/Sales Channels and Finance. While we all share the same common goal - to drive sales and hit profitability goals - each department has their internal objectives and it is up to the Marketing team to be open-minded, flexible and serve as solution seekers to align all the teams to work effectively together and in a timely fashion
    3. Utilize internal data systems and tools (GEBIS/Gateways) to identify and convey critical information to keep projects on-track and on budget
    4. Drive profitability by delivering collection within set margin targets - some skus within a collection may not hit margin targets, and will need to be re-engineered to meet hurdle OR efficiencies will need to be identified by other skus within the collection to offset the discrepancy to maintain balance
    5. Manage creative/design to ensure fashion-forward designs that defines Godiva, but balance creativity with consumer/channel needs as well as analytics to ensure that an optimal collection is developed to drive sell-thru and profitability. Need to manage very tight and rigid timelines.
    Requirements Education & Experience
    Minimum education required: Bachelor's Degree from a competitive university, or equivalent applicable work experience
    Years of relevant experience: 2-3 years marketing/project management experience in competitive marketing organization (i.e. consumer packaged goods, cosmetics, luxury goods, etc). Experience in business analysis is highly desirable

    Qualifications
    • General familiarity and comfort with marketing concepts and tools
    • Leadership qualities, and the ability to act independently (self-starter)
    • Detail and timeline process oriented; project management skills
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills (IRI/Nielsen experience ideal)
    • Strong spreadsheet and presentation development skills (Microsoft Office)
    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills - Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
