JCPenney Position Description

Leads a cross facility and functional team to implement safety initiatives for Logistics facilities. Coordinates efforts to ensure compliance with government and JCPenney safety.

TITLE: HEALTH AND SAFETY LEADER DEPARTMENT: Supply Chain POSITION CODE: 13078

I. BASIC FUNCTION:

1. Participates with cross-functional team in identifying needs for strategic programs around associates safety and energy to support associates with safe work environments.

2. Coordinates all OSHA and other required government agency issue with Legal, HR and Field Logistics facilities.

3. Ensures reporting compliance with appropriate government agencies.

4. Leads prioritization of safety initiatives for implementation.

5. Coordinated safety awareness programs in Logistics.

6. Coordinates program development with Risk Management to track and set goals for Worker's Compensation expenditures.

7. Continually monitors existing health, safety programs and procedures, and makes recommendations on areas that need to be added, updated or modified for consistency across the network.

8. Identifies and prioritizes at risk facilities and develops action plans to address deficiencies.

II. PRINCIPAL

RESPONSIBILITIES: (No more than 8)

1. Works with Logistics Operations, Human Resources and Engineering Management teams on safety initiatives.

2. Home Office Loss Prevention management team and Home Office Risk Management team on safety and Worker's Compensation issues.

III. KEY

RELATIONSHIPS: (No more than 4)

Other Relevant Data: Position can impact and influence key Capital and General Expenses:

Annual Capital Expenditure, $2,000,000; Annual Worker's Compensation Expense, $11,000,000.

Education: College degree. Business and/or communications major preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Minimum 10 years progressive management experience, including project management.

Core Competencies: Very strong speaking and writing skills; comfort level working with persons of high position, very good critical thinking skills with ability to analyze and act on information relating to assignment; very good organizing skills with ability to identify and prioritize issues of importance to the division; capable of interacting with and implementing programs through others.

1. Maintaining awareness of changes throughout the logistics arenas to ensure proactive strategy development for safety policies.

2. Coordinating and interacting with Operations, Engineering, Risk Management, to assure cohesive strategies.

3. Maintaining awareness of national and global trends and issues that could impact safety of our logistics network associates, and developing plans to address them, as assigned.
