We are currently seeking a Chemist for our client in Metropolis, IL. Selected candidate evaluates the chemical and physical properties of various organic and inorganic substances in order to investigate their applications to medicine and other industries. Determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds using quantitative and qualitative analyses in physical, organic, or inorganic chemistry. Performs a variety of chemical tests and is knowledgeable with basic instrumental techniques. Familiarity with the following analytical instrumentation is desirable:
- Atomic absorption
- Surface area and particle size distribution
- Ion chromatography
- Prepares materials for laboratory examination.
- With assistance from supervision, prepares analytical test plans and procedures.
- Reports to the on-site Laboratory Supervisor
Education / Experience - Bachelor's degree in area of specialty
- 5-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Skills and Qualifications - Has working knowledge of commonly-used laboratory concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Demonstrates strong adherence to safety rules, practices and instructions while performing all functions of the job.
- Works with minimal supervision; demonstrates high degree of initiative and self-motivation.
- Competent with basic PC skills (MS Word, Excel, etc).
- Selected candidate will need to complete 4 hr site specific safety training course, pre-employment physical and additional background check completed by client's site security.
