What does a Clinical Intervention Pharmacist do?

Our primary function is to support the pharmacies in two Omnicare regions by creating efficiencies in communication and performing various clinically related functions. 

 

 

More specifically we:

 

  • Manage Med D/Third Party and Medicaid rejected claims by requesting real time changes to covered alternatives
  • Initiate Prior Authorizations (PAs) or Medical Exceptions (MEs) when required by the Prescription Drug Plan (PDP)
  • Intervene on Med A rejected claims for high cost drug therapy in order to enhance customer satisfaction for select National Account customers
  • Support Omnicare clinical initiatives in generating Patient Specific Therapeutic Interchange (PSTI) requests for cost saving and/or therapeutically equivalent drug therapy
  • Dose patients on Coumadin through our Therapeutic Management Anticoagulation Service – for select facilities
  • Maintain comprehensive databases for all of our pharmacies, facilities, and prescribers
  • Autofax communication, such as Omnicare memos or newsletters
  • Produce monthly reports summarizing the activities accomplished for each pharmacy and reporting the outcomes of our efforts

 

 

 

 The Position:   Clinical Intervention Pharmacist

  

  • Full Time Monday - Friday, rotating shifts
  • 8:00am-4:30pm, 9:00am-5:30pm, 10:00am-6:30pm
  • Every 6th Saturday
  • On call for 1 week every 7th week. (on call pay is offered)
  • No dispensing
  • Very little patient interaction
  • Some Doctor and insurance interaction
  • Closed door pharmacy
