The University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Medicine's Institute for Genome Sciences has exciting opportunities available in the Bioinformatics field! The institute was established to support genomic, basic and translational research to improve human health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and beyond. This goal is being accomplished by leveraging a state-of-the-art computational facility, the expertise of our domain experts, computational scientists, engineers, and our partnerships with other universities and organizations. The selected Bioinformatics candidates will contribute to genomic sequencing projects and scientific analyses of data generated by those projects using a variety of bioinformatics techniques and software applications. Responsibilities include generating, annotating, and analyzing genomic data and preparing the data for further research or publication. Opportunities require a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Life Sciences, including fields such as Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or Bioinformatics. Depending on job level, may also require genomic research experience, and experience with Windows and UNIX-based operating systems; jobs also require knowledge of database management systems, e.g., Sybase, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle
