Description

This position is for a permanent Quality Engineer in North Palm Beach, Florida. Interest will be in a Candidate with an extensive Quality background in the Aircraft industry including Jet Engine Turbine experience. Requirements

SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer supports New Product Introductions through the oversight and management of Customer Quality Systems along with Customer Specific, Product, and Process definition and approvals in support of attaining Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Inventory goals.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

 

  • Assure/verify compliance of manufacturing methods/processes with approved methods/processes and quality requirements/standards as defined on drawings, customer specifications, and customer contracts/purchase order requirements through the sign-off of Operation Sheets (to include Character Control Sheets (CCS)), Inspection Record Sheets (IRS), Tech Plans, internal drawings, and Qual. Plans for purchased items.
  • Review and approve the manufacturing process for customer identified Special Processes along with the assigned Manufacturing Process Control (MPC) personnel; assure MPC review is completed on all Operation Sheets prior to approval.
  • Assist in creating and approve the required Quality Plans which outline all characteristics requiring inspection when receive inspection is being performed on purchased parts.
  • Assist in creating and ensure 100% characteristic accountability has taken place on all ballooned drawings/sketches.
  • Review and approve Inspection Method Sheets (IMS) for new and revised CNC programs per Tech Leaders discretion.
  • Review and approve the associated designs and IRSs, and calibration data for tooling that is used to inspect all assigned product.
  • Review and assist in generating all required Bills of Material in support of assigned product.
  • Conduct process improvements through leading/participating in Six Sigma projects, design of experiments and design review events to improve manufacturing process efficiency (continuous improvement), reduce cost, improve profitability and reduce product lead/cycle time.
  • Generate/review (and train Process/Product Engineers as required) any required statistical analysis to validate processes and documented inspection results on assigned products.
  • Review and approve (if required) assigned customer contracts, identifying any concerns with requirements listed and acknowledge review by completion of our QF-1 form in accordance with the Quality System.
  • Assist and support requests for process changes/introductions through our customers formal systems and monitor/manage all serial number and/or partial releases made on affected product through source inspection and shipment.
  • Prepare for and participate in customer product reviews & audits, to include Production Readiness Reviews when applicable.
  • Monitor, report, and respond accordingly to CP & CPK values for critical dimensions identified internally and by our customers.
  • Provide supporting information and work in accordance with new product and design change milestones.
  • Oversee the incorporation and maintenance of customer issued drawing changes into systems and processes.
  • Oversee the collection and submittal of key characteristic data, along with the required preparation efforts for recurring product audits.
  • Organize, review and approve all information pertaining to first article submittals ensuring the accurate communication of information in accordance with our customers quality representative, purchase order, and blueprint requirements.
  • Lead efforts pertaining to customer escape research utilizing all other team members to ensure accurate data is quickly available with appropriate action for review by the Technical Leaders.
  • Review and approve all required concessions/case records and product repairs for customer submittal and monitor status through disposition.
  • Offer oversight and sign-off (as required) of product repairs, reworks, and NMR disposition/Root Cause validation.
  • Perform required validation on all root cause analysis efforts and perform follow-through on assigned/accepted corrective actions.
  • Upon approval of any Nonconforming Material Report (NMR), ensure submittal to Document Control immediately occurs.
  • Perform the required Purchase Order Requisition Approvals to properly flow down the requirements of our customers to our vendors as delegated.
  • Support supply chain by performing on-site Quality Audits as required within our vendor base.
  • Perform all assigned Workstation Audits in accordance with the published schedules.
  • Recommend safety & ergonomic improvements in our material handling devices, manufacturing tools, and workstations to accommodate best practices for shop floor personnel.
  • Perform duties/responsibilities related to this position as assigned by the Technical Leader

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Quality Engineer may supervise other Process Engineers, Product Engineers or Technicians on assigned work.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. in a technical field OR a minimum of five (5) years experience in a related field. 
  • Must be capable of obtaining a thorough knowledge of the CAD/CAM & ERP system use. 
  • Advanced shop mathematics (including a sound understanding of statistics application in manufacturing), GD&T fluency, inspection tool use and application, procedural management, and fluency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, special processes including APS coatings, laser drilling, and airflow measurement ideal.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, acetone, alcohol, argon, braze alloys, nitrogen, hydrogen, oil based lubricants and cleaning solutions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moderate cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually nominal.
