Job Summary

This position is responsible for oversight and leadership for the Licensed Practical Nursing program. Responsibilities include supervision of professional staff, state and federal reporting requirements, and part-time teaching. This is a full-time, 12-month, grant-funded position.

 

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities for the Director of Nursing position include the following:

1) Manage all aspects of activity, ensure accomplishment of implementation strategies and approved objectives, maintain records, oversee and manage activity budget.

2) Supervise curriculum development for new academic programs, ensuring that programs respond to student needs.

3) Work with Project Coordinator, appropriate personnel to ensure institutionalization of new academic programs.

4) Supervise bidding, purchasing and installation of equipment for each new academic program.

5) Assist Coordinator in hiring searches for Teacher Education Specialist, Distance Education Specialist.

6) Ensure required evaluation data is gathered; supervise evaluation of new academic programs.

7) Assist Project Coordinator with Activity evaluation.

8) Serve on appropriate college committees.

9) Other duties as assigned by the Title V Project Coordinator.

Requirements

Qualifications for the Director of Nursing position include the following:

1) Master’s degree with BSN required, MSN preferred.

2) At least three years administrative experience.

3) Three years experience working with minority, “high-risk," non-traditional and underprepared students.

4) Broad knowledge of nursing instruction, instructional methodologies, technology.

5) Familiarity with successful programs at other colleges.

6) Experience with evaluation and curriculum development.
