The Staff Therapist is primarily responsible for working collaboratively with bachelor level case managers and family advocates to provide comprehensive outpatient treatment services to children, adolescents, and their families.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts intakes, provides individual, group and family therapy services in center and community based settings.  Services include: initial clinical assessments, diagnosis, clinical treatment planning and implementation, referral, and termination.
  • Available to handle client emergencies as needed, including outside of normal work hours.
  • Conducts parent education programs and family support groups.
  • Collaborates and consults with school personnel, which includes teachers, counselors, and administrators to develop an integrated approach to treatment as well as aid in the identification and referral of students who would most likely benefit from mental health services.
  • Maintains the necessary community/professional contacts.
  • Must meet productivity standards.

 

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • M.A./M.S. degree with an emphasis on marriage and family therapy or M.S.W.
  • Degree must be eligible for registration with Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Must be eligible to receive "waivered" status from the Department of Mental Health.
  • Experience relevant to working with children and families.
  • Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based child and family clinical interventions relevant to families served in community mental health settings.
  • Must develop reasonalbe, appropriate treatment plans and clinical programs to meet the needs of the clients served.
