Description Business Development Officer is responsible in developing new business opportunities and revitalize existing business opportunities with sponsor groups, Select Employer Groups (SEGs) and Co-Op groups.  Heighten the Credit Union’s visibility and credibility among its members, SEGs and the public through community involvement. Support Retail Services in identifying, analyzing, implementing and evaluating improvements in sales and service strategies to meet Organization goals.
Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of credit union industry, including industry leaders, the legislative environment, and understanding of credit union development opportunities.
  • Excellent business skills, including networking, presentation skills, broad level credit union product and service alliance capabilities, and communications.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams. 
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems;
  • Ability to use math and apply mathematical reasoning and abstract statistical concepts;
  • Ability to observe and interpret people and situations;
  • Ability to learn and apply new information skills;
  • Ability to perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks;
  • Ability to work under intense deadlines;
  • Ability to interact with staff, members, and others encountered in the course of work.
  • Typically these skills result from a combination of education at the college level in business, finance, management or related area, several years of increasingly responsible experience in a financial institution, branch banking, operations and marketing, preferably in a credit union environment.  Knowledge in sales and business development tools.
  • Proof of an unblemished Department of Motor Vehicle driving record.
  • Proof of auto insurance.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

 

Education, Training and Experience:

Potential candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in business development.

  

Experience as outlined may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
