Description

The Systems Safety Engineering is responsible for system analysis, requirement management, and technical leadership for defining, developing, verifying, and supporting safe systems; experience in this area is required.

 

 

The Reliability function minimizes the system’s likelihood of failure, whether due to component failure (electrical and mechanical hardware reliability), (software), operator error (human reliability), or process abnormalities (process reliability).  Experience in this area is a plus.

 

Candidate will support Mission Assurance in Systems Safety Engineering.  Desire experience or a willingness to cross train in Human Factors and RMA (Reliability / Maintainability / Availability & Testability) disciplines.  Systems are avionics, space, and ground systems including sub-systems such as communications, networks, displays, high reliability embedded software/firmware, and baseband equipment.  The duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Consult with other engineering staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements of the overall system.
  • Interface with both internal and external customers.
  • Strong oral/written communication and customer interface skills a necessity
  • Prepare work estimates, schedule inputs and metric data to project management.
  • Work closely with Government customers to ensure that the mission assurance requirements are defined and implemented in a way that will allow for the verification and validation of the system.
  • Represent program safety interests at customer meetings.
  • Producing some or all, Safety Program Plans and System Hazard Analyses Creation of high quality documents deliverable to short timescales
  • Work with radiation protection regulations and standards
  • Work with federal, state and local regulations and standards
  • Work with OSHA, military and commercial regulations.
  • May include Reliability and Maintainability Predictions, Circuit Analysis (Analog & Digital), Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Testability, Failure Analysis
  • Experience in Software Safety and/or Software Reliability is a plus
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • BS in technical field required
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in
    • Safety Engineering.
    • Microsoft Office and other standard office PC applications.
    • Handling of multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites if required.



Additional preferred skills:

  • Experience in Human Factors and/or Reliability/Maintainability engineering a plus
  • Ability to lead others is a plus.
