DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY:
 
Maine Medical Center (MMC), a Prominent 600 Bed Academic Hospital and Maine's Premier Level I Trauma and Referral hospital is presently seeking candidates for the DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY position. Maine Medical Center is located in Portland, Maine, less then 90 miles from Boston, Massachusetts. MMC consistently ranks year after year as a TOP 100 hospital by Solucient and US News. MMC has recently formed an alliance with The University of New England’s College of Pharmacy and Tufts Medical School and currently has approximately 230 residents and fellows on staff.  Maine Medical Center offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in all medical specialties. Centers of excellence are being developed in cancer care, heart care, neuroscience, children's services, and other areas, building from existing excellence in multi-disciplinary services.

Sierra Staffing has been a leader for over 16 years in the area of Health System Pharmacist Recruitment. We have been retained by Maine Medical Center to identify and evaluate candidates for the Director of Pharmacy position.

 

As you may expect, the Pharmacy Department offers comprehensive pharmacy programs including research activities, a fully accredited residency program and 24 hour pharmacy services. The Pharmacy Department supports three other outpatient areas, including satellite pharmacies at an ambulatory surgery center (the largest surgery center in New England) and Cancer Institute.  With approximately 100 FTE’s, the staff consists of a compliment of unit based decentralized clinical pharmacists, and centralized pharmacy staff.  The annual budget is approximately $25 million.

Requirements The ideal candidate will have demonstrated administrative success with progressive acute care facilities and will need to exhibit characteristics vital to the hospitals dedication to complete patient care and expansion of broad based Clinical Pharmacy Services. He/She will need to have a background that complements Business, Clinical, Academic, Research and Information Systems.  Baseline education will consist of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or a Pharm.D. with a Masters Degree in MHA, MBA, MPH or related field.  Residency training is also desirable but not required.     Pharmacist.
