Description
Personal Lines Field Inspector

Reliable Reports, Inc. (www.reliablereports.com) is looking to fill a part-time insurance inspector position to work the SW Denver metro area including Lakewood.  Part – time reps will work 50 – 150 reports a month.  RRI provides underwriting inspections on residential properties for insurance companies. Our inspections are typically an exterior inspection with photos, measurements and a diagram of the perimeter of the house. For several insurance companies we are required to climb on the roof and do a walk over inspection so I need someone physically able to climb roofs and walk on them without fear. At times we conduct interior inspections so a neat, professional appearance is mandatory. We will conduct criminal and motor vehicle background checks prior to offering any positions. Those with past DUI or DWI convictions or excessive traffic violations (more than 2) in the last 5 years need not apply.

We pay by the report and the field rep rate averages $7.75 per report in this area. I estimate someone will work 3-4 full days in order to complete 125 reports a month. These days will require 6 – 10 hours of preparation, field work and clean up. Denver based reps will drive 100+ miles a day to work 25 - 40 inspections. The rep must be able to do inspections on weekdays. A typical day will include mapping, drive time to locate properties, the actual site inspection and computer clean up once you return home. The site inspection will take 5-15 minutes per house. 95% of the properties are located within the Denver metro area some will be in the foothills.  An organized, motivated rep will be able to work 25 – 40 inspections a day.

50% of the rep’s time is spent on a computer so having above average computer skills is a must. Anyone with the ability to operate in programs such as Excel and Word will typically be able to pick up on how to use our diagramming tool and how to attach digital images to our forms. Reps will be given a user name and password that allows them access to our website and their working inventory of cases. Our system allows reps to export their reports into Microsoft Streets and Trips (not provided) thus mapping the properties with good addresses automatically.

This position offers a unique opportunity to generate some nice additional income. Our work flow is constant throughout the year but the volume will slow down as we get into the late fall approaching the holidays. Our business comes from new homeowner’s policies insurance companies write. They use our reports to confirm if the properties their agents want to insure meet their company underwriting standards for condition, upkeep, pride of ownership, etc. We are the eyes of the insurance company.

Since the snow will prevent climbing on roofs at times we will have to work around the weather and complete our rooftop inspections on days after most of the snow on roofs has melted. Higher elevation roof inspections may be delayed longer, possibly until the spring.

The rep will need high speed internet, cell phone, a dependable 4 WD vehicle, ladder (16’ extension), measuring wheel, and digital camera.

Requirements
  • Self Starter (Proven in work history)
  • Must be comfortable climbing steep pitched roofs
  • Clean driving and criminal history
  • Very Computer Literate
  • Need reliable transportation
  • Have high speed internet service
  • Digital camera
