ABOUT THE OUTSIDE FOOD SALES REPRESENTATIVE POSITION

Sysco Pittsburgh has openings for Outside Sales Representatives , also known as a Marketing Associates, for a training class that will begin in mid-January, 2010 in various cities in the Altoona area. Must be willing to relocate to any of the following counties: Blair, Cambria, Clearfield, Indiana.

Responsibilities

-Outside sales position with defined territory responsibility.
-Marketing Associates are expected to perform as a relationship manager and take a consultative approach to selling by proposing new ideas to exceed customer expectations.
-Marketing Associates develop and penetrate each of their accounts by selling the full mix of Sysco product categories through presentation of new products, ideas, sales tools, and services.
-Cold calling accounts and opening new business

-Marketing Associates are expected to also function as a problem solver and troubleshooter along with assisting their customers in increasing their profitability.
-Marketing Associates will research and share industry and market information, encourage client participation in food shows and facility tours, introduce customers to company product specialists, and follow through on customer requests for information and samples.
-This position requires varied work hours such as some evening and weekend work for customer calls.
-Marketing Associates are responsible for the credit management of customer collections and balances.

Requirements Specifications:
High school education or equivalent education is required, with two or more years of college preferred.
-Must be proficient with MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
-Prior background in food service sales or restaurant management experience, of one (1) or more years is REQUIRED
-Dimensions required include: a good working knowledge of business math, excellent communication and decision-making skills, coaching, planning and follow up, managing work, persuasiveness, and a professional demeanor.

Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to call on customer accounts, safely lift products and equipment of up to 50 lbs. in weight, manually from the seat or trunk of a vehicle, and hand carry them into customer locations. This may involve the climbing of stairs or ramps, and may be required in all types of weather conditions.

Other Requirements:
Must provide reliable personal vehicle and maintain a valid state driver’s license and auto liability insurance limits of at least 100/300/100.
