Registered Nurse, Oncology, Research RN

Performs professional nursing duties and provides clinical guidance to other nursing personnel in the nursing care of patients.

• Assesses patient’s physical, emotional and social circumstances and makes decisions, interventions and referrals for the patient’s well being. Conducts assessment at admission and throughout the course of treatment

• Plans and coordinates patient care with others by developing and modifying care plan.

• Collaborates with other clinical disciplines to ensure an appropriate interdisciplinary approach      

• Receives and assures execution of physician’s orders   

• Administers medication and observes and documents responses to treatment      

• Observes, documents in the medical record, and reports on care given to patients by nursing team, and on incidents involving patients, employees and visitors    

• Interprets and reacts decisively to patient’s response to treatment and medication  

• Communicates information to others involved in care of the patient    

• Delivers education to patients and family

• Current Kansas Registered Nurse License required

• Current Basic Life Support certification required

• Oncology Certified Nurse certification  preferred (to be obtained within 2 years of hire date)

• Previous Oncology/Research experience preferred
