NIITEK is a rapidly expanding company that designs and produces ground-penetrating radar for military and humanitarian applications. Our engineers and the people who support them are committed to developing the premier landmine detection system for robotic, and vehicle mounted platforms. Our Research and Development team is based in Sterling VA, and supports our new production team, which is located in Charlottesville.
We are currently recruiting for an Electronic-Mechanical CAD Design Drafter to join our Charlottesville, VA production team.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for checking, revising drawing markups, creating drawings for conceptual, developmental, and production level drawing packages including parts list, wire list, and drafting redraws for electronic format from existing drawings.
This position is the primary checker for CAD generated engineering designs, and manufacturing drawing packages of electronic chassis and mechanical components in accordance with company standards and contractual requirements to support Engineering, Manufacturing and customer documentation of electronic/mechanical equipment. Models are created in 3D using Pro/E. Electronic Designs for Printed Wiring Assemblies and Boards are created in 2D using Intellicad, PADs and DX Designer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Technically interface with engineers, technicians, manufacturing and co-designers while analyzing and reviewing designs.
• Assure that documentation requirements (Export/ITAR markings, contract number and any other information required) specified on a program or contract have been fulfilled.
• Verify dimensional accuracy and completeness of drawings and assure compliance with standard drafting procedures and applicable specifications.
• Manage working on multiple projects.
• Help research problems and recommend effective solutions.
• Successful in meeting critical schedules within budget.
• Review, analyze and organize engineering technical data received on projects and perform research to obtain additional information where needed.
• Be the interface for manufacturing and vendor related questions regarding dimensions and format issues.
Requirements
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 6+ years of related experience or Technical trade school/AA degree with 10+ years experience
ADDITIONAL SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret DOD level clearance (requires US Citizenship or Green Card)
• Knowledge of drafting practices for mechanical and schematic layout.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and accurate measuring ability.
• Thorough knowledge of basic AC/DC electricity, wiring practices and printed circuit board technology is required.
• Thorough understanding of all related DoD and industry electro/mechanical design/documentation standards along with manufacturing processes relating to chassis level equipment and printed circuited boards.
• Familiarity with manufacturing process relating to sheet metal bending, part machining, plastics and welding.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills for effective communication with technical personnel within company and customers.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Experience with Intellicad 2D and Pro/Engineering 3D
• Strong computer skills using MS Windows and Office suite are required.
• Familiar with “Windchill” Product Data Management System.
• Working knowledge of the following programs and related standards: PADs, DX designer, ASME Y14.100, ASME Y14.5, MIL-STD-100
• Familiarity with the following related standards: ANSI/IPC-D-275, ANSI/PC-A-610, ANSI/J-STD-001
