Description Plans, organizes and directs the activities of the St. Mary’s Medical Center (SMMC) Pastoral Care Department in close coordination with all other St. Mary’s Health System, Inc. (SMHS, Inc.) entities.  Provides management oversight and direction to assure implementation of Pastoral Care Services through department staff. Works interdepartmentally with others to assure effective integration of SMHS’s Mission, Vision and Values. Assists the Ethics committee and its activities.
Requirements

Education:  Master’s degree in Theology or Spirituality         

 

Experience:  3 to 5 years of ministry experience within a health care system required.

3 to 5 years management experience in the field of spiritual (pastoral) care, and experience working on healthcare Ethics Committees desired.

 

Competencies:  Must possess exceptional communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.  Effective critical thinking, decision-making, and problem solving abilities required. 

 

Certification/Licensure:  Clinical pastoral certification by NACC, or APC.

Ecclesiastical endorsement required.
