We are seeking a Full time Payment Solutions/Collections Representative to join our progressive credit union.  In this role, the individual will perform the full scope of collection activities for the Payment Solutions Team.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting the credit union’s collection effort by working with members to develop payment solutions for past due accounts.
• Processing insurance claims related to death and/or disability, non-filing insurance, property claims and other insurance coverage the credit union is able to access to offset its loan losses.
• Identifying delinquent accounts and responding with collection activity.
• Responsible for auditing and monitoring status of collection accounts.
• Staying current with all provisions of applicable codes, laws, and regulations.
• Maintaining files, records and journals to provide a chronology of collection activity for delinquent accounts.
• Communicating with a variety of internal and external members.
• Being an advocate of Michigan First culture.

• The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience with bankruptcy laws, garnishments, levies, fair debt collection practices, repossessions and foreclosures.
• Minimum of 2 years of related collections experience preferably in a bank, credit union or shared services center. 
• High School diploma is needed, Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Strong mathematical skills required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (excel and word) and use the credit union’s computer system for input/output transactions, on-screen loan processing information, etc.
• Basic understanding of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.   
• Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor; ability to interact at all levels within our organization, in a team based environment and with the public.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with complete confidentiality.
• Ability to problem solver and focus on effectiveness, being organized, flexible, self –directed and have a sense of urgency.
