BUYER - Kansas City - Join an industry leader!

The Buyer will be responsible for securing competitive pricing, negotiate long term contracts and ensure timely and proper delivery of items purchased from domestic and international vendors.  Will review bid proposals from vendors and enter into contracts in accordance with budgetary limitations.  Experience in food manufacturing and multi-plant operations preferred.  Candidate will coordinate with production and scheduling and be responsible for sourcing packaging materials to support our production schedules.  Successful candidate will also be a liaison with our Art, Quality and Accounting departments to coordinate proper graphics, establish items and initiate bill of material changes.  

Key Skills:

·        Must be able to handle multiple priorities and re-prioritize as needed.

·        The ability to interact with all levels of management and production personnel.

·        Inventory management with experience in setting up vendor managed inventory systems.   

·        Ability to assemble quote packages, solicit bids and analyze quotes. 

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·        The ability to maintain accurate and complete records.

Qualifications:

·        3-5 years of Buyer or Assistant Buyer experience required.

·        Experience with MRP-ERP systems required.

·        Proficiency in Excel, Word, Access and Outlook required.

·        Bachelor’s Degree or CPM preferred.
