Description GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES – The primary responsibilities of the Director are the development and operation of HCA’s Hospitalist Program. This job also involves developing programs, systems and controls, consulting, hiring and managing employees and monitoring the activities and operation o all the Hospitalists to ensure objectives are met. DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: • Participates in, plans, develops, organizes, and evaluates the program in conjunction with the Medical Director • Works constructively with all designated physicians, leadership, and other health professionals to accomplish organizational and program goals. • Manages the daily operations of the Hospitalist Program. • Communicates effectively in writing and verbally. • Maintains strictest confidentiality in the areas of patient, employee and physician relations. • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”. • Facilitates goal setting, planning, and marketing for program • Facilitates development of a quality program in conjunction with JCAHO and other standards, to include facilitation of monthly quality reviews and providing for problem resolutions. • Facilitates in the development of Collaborative Rounds • Participates in the development and implementation of practice standards and clinical guidelines as needed • Audits and evaluates compliance with clinical guidelines • Plans and directs fiscal management to manage the program in an effective manner. • Prepares and monitors annual program budget with input and assistance of appropriate personnel. • Develops processes to enhance the efficient utilization of resources frequently used by the Hospitalists such as testing, laboratory services, pharmacy, and specialty care. • Assists physicians in complying with patient billing requirements. • Proficient in the process of professional charge data entry • Coordinates physician reimbursements (e.g. travel, equipment, conference registrations, etc). • Develops and coordinates physician educational programs as needed, including orientation to the facility and assisting in establishing efficient provider practices. • Assists Medical Director with staffing & scheduling issues. • Contributes to the Medical Director’s employee performance evaluations and affects timely communication for the purpose of goal setting, continued employment, and related personnel action. • Participates in physician recruitment. • Contributes to monthly administrative quality and financial reporting • Develops and fosters collaborative relationships with facility and referring stakeholders. • Functions as a liaison for Physicians, staff, and patients; responds to complaints/concerns in coordination with the Medical Director. • Attends appropriate facility and departmental meetings and committees regarding employment related matters, policies, procedures, and programs which may impact the program. • Perform other job duties as assigned
Requirements Skill in developing comprehensive reports • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data. • Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with stakeholders • Collaborate effectively with leadership and all healthcare providers to achieve desired outcomes for program. • Develops systems to facilitate communication of key information to patients/families, PCP’s, referring MDs, RNs, and other key stakeholders across the delivery system. Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others • Demonstrated ability for problem solving and decision-making. • Plan and implement program development initiatives, organize functions of daily operations, and maintain efficient operations. EDUCATION • Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program. Bachelors Degree in Nursing required. • Masters degree is highly preferred. EXPERIENCE • Required: Five years professional nursing experience. • Preferred: Previous experience with physician practice management preferred. Successful progressive supervisory/management experience preferred. CERTIFICATE/LICENSE • Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse
