Description
The ALS Association, Iowa Chapter is a non-profit organization who provides compassionate care and support to Iowans affected by ALS while searching for additional treatments and a cure for ALS. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," is a progressive neurodegenerative disease.
The Iowa Chapter currently has a position opening for a Patient Services Coordinator. This will be either a part-time (20-29 hours) or full-time (30+ hours) position; full-time position is preferred. Schedule is flexible. In-state travel to meet in-person with various resources as well as patients and families is a key part of this position – anticipated travel up to 25% outside of Central Iowa.
The Patient Services Coordinator will be responsible for providing support services through the coordination of support group meetings; organizing and managing a patient equipment loan program; maintaining contact both in-person and via phone/email with patients and their families regarding their needs for support as well as assistance with services access and coordination; assist with fund raising and awareness efforts.

Requirements
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor of Social Work degree and a minimum of 3 years experience as a social worker with proven ability to: understand and respond to the issues of patients and family dealing with life threatening illness; organize and implement effective equipment, resources, and other services for patient needs; effectively research and help patients navigate the insurance and other administrative support processes; organize and conduct support group meetings; assist patients and families with end-life stage processes. Experience in medical setting/field or specifically with ALS highly preferred.
This is a salary position and the equivalent hourly rate of pay will range from $19.00-$22.00/hr. based on candidate experience and skill level. Additional benefits include company matching retirement plan, personal time off (PTO), and holiday pay; medical insurance and long-term disability insurance available for full-time employees. Travel expenses will also be reimbursed based on policy.
