About Us The Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation was formed by Bristol Bay tribes in 1973, which have grown to include 34 village tribes. It began managing and operating Kanakanak Hospital and the Bristol Bay Service Unit for the Indian Health Service in 1980. It was the first tribal organization in the U.S. to do so under P.L. 93-638 of the Indian Self Determination and Education Assistance Act. Job Summary Coordinates total nursing care for patients and participates in patient/family teaching. Provides leadership by working cooperatively with nursing staff and other patient team personnel to maintain standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The registered nurse is responsible for providing competent and appropriate Inpatient/ER/OB services when and where assigned. May be a member of the Medevac Transport Team. Working Conditions: Inpatient/ER/OB services with occasional air transport escort, occasional home health coverage, takes call per policy. Must be able to function effectively in clinical setting. Common exposure to contagious diseases. Involves periods of standing, walking, bending and lifting. Hours must be flexible to reflect staffing needs. Relationship With Others: Must be able to work cooperatively with others interdepartmentally and intra Departmental, as well as interrelating with patients, visitors and vendors. Positions Supervised: When assigned as Charge Nurse supervises other Nurses on Shift; Health Unit Coordinator.
