The Arizona Medical Board is committed to serving the public through the honest, fair, and judicious licensing and regulation of allopathic physicians (MDs). This commitment spans over a century of changing healthcare delivery systems and methodologies. During this time, the Board has witnessed the altering roles of healthcare providers and the implementation of futuristic health services. Throughout these changing times, the Board has been a proactive leader in the regulation of medical professionals by implementing laws on the forefront of new medical practices. Additionally, the Board made public information a priority by creating one of the top physician profiling systems in the country, enabling the public to make informed healthcare decisions. As it has in the past, the Arizona Medical Board will continue to gain public respect and trust by focusing on the issues that will shape positive healthcare environments. It is committed to streamlining the laws that regulate the medical profession by clarifying existing regulations and creating new laws to address the future needs of the community.  The Board is currently looking for an Information Technology Specialist 4 to join their team.

The Information Technology Specialist, under limited supervision of the CIO, will be primarily responsible for managing the entire infrastructure for the agency. Job duties and responsibilities include:
*Planning, designing, and coordinating the various components of an enterprise network system
*Consulting with users and program management conducting information assessments to determine user needs and to define network solutions to meet user requirements
*Designing and configuring an enterprise environment with appropriate hardware, operating systems software, applications software, and communications components to support business requirements
*Conducting research and development in network systems and related technologies
*Establishing methods and procedures for use of the network systems including hardware, software, and communications devices
*Working with agency's staff to ensure the network environment is consistent with the agency objectives and is compatible with existing applications and security requirements
*Coordinating and ensuring the standard implementation of policies, procedures and systems operations with support personnel
*Writing and/or maintaining up-to-date documentation for network software and operational procedures
*Developing hardware configuration plans for network systems
*Reassessing the effectiveness of network hardware, software, and communications performance
*Ensuring network equipment and software is meeting the needs of the program area as defined in the distributed processing plan and modifies the distributed processing plan as required
*Evaluating and recommending network software and hardware for the enterprise system
*Analyzing and resolving network hardware, software, and communications problems using diagnostic software and/or technical troubleshooting processes
*Monitoring the hardware to ensure it is properly maintained
*Coordinating with agency management for the acquisition of and contracting for hardware, software, and information technology services (including maintenance)
*Conducting on-going network system audits to evaluate the utility and efficiency of the system's hardware, software, and communications components and the effectiveness in meeting management information needs
*Developing and maintaining disaster recovery procedures for the network and network resources
*Performing related work as required.
*Designing, implementing, and maintaining data networks by:
   - Monitoring the network in order to diagnose problems and gather performance indicators for fine tuning
   - Pulling necessary cabling, tests cable, etc. as needed
   - Troubleshooting and resolving TCP/IP addressing and routing issues
   - Maintaining network security to guard against unauthorized access to programs and data
   - Maintaining and providing support for Juniper firewall
   - Maintaining and providing support for HP ProCurve Switch
   - Developing and administering a storage management program and provides for routine backups and disaster recovery testing and planning
*Recommending new applications and software upgrades including:
   - Recommending future product direction, installing new applications, and distributing software upgrades
   - Monitoring, controlling, and enforcing licensing agreements
   - Researching and testing new products for implementation
   - Researching project related vendors and pricing necessary for annual budgetary projections and identifying opportunities at customers for the generation of revenue
*Planning and implementing annual projects by:
   - Communicating any functional changes related to the network environment to appropriate personnel
   - Coordinating and implementing annual workstation updates/replacements
   - Researching, planning, and implementing annual projects based on direction established in the Information Systems Strategic Plan
   - Researching project related vendors and pricing necessary for annual budgetary projections
*Providing primary support for all server operations and help desk functions on an as needed basis including:
   - Resolving network problems and maintaining all server operating systems to assure operating efficiency
   - Participating as a member of the user help desk, as needed
   - Maintaining a thorough knowledge of Microsoft operating systems
*Developing/maintaining Information Systems publications and maintenance records and schedules by:
   - Maintaining accurate documentation of all network configurations and information
   - Maintaining bios updates for all hardware and installs and testing all service packs in a test environment
   - Managing security (AD security group memberships, firewalls, antivirus, web filtering)
Requirements THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE/BE THE FOLLOWING:
*Senior Network Administrator
*Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related field, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, MCSE, CCNA
*7+ years network infrastructure experience, (LAN, WAN, Frame Relay, Wireless), HP, DELL, CISCO, Juniper hardware
*Knowledge of Juniper firewall, HP ProCurve switch, NetGear/Cisco switches, Symantec Backup Exec, ESET NOD32 Antivirus Business Edition, Solarwinds, Intermapper, SQL 2003/2005, Norstar PBX
*Excellent working knowledge of Windows 2003/2008, Active Directory, MS Exchange, DNS, DHCP, IIS, SQL Server and related applications
*Excellent working knowledge of Windows XP Professional, Office 2007, VISIO, MS Project, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
*Skill in problem identification and formulation of alternatives and solutions to maintain operational integrity of the enterprise server
*Skill in network design, procurement, installation and implementation
*Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships to manage complex integrative projects
*Skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors, divisional staff, agency program staff, agency senior management, as well as staff and management of other governmental and private sector entities
*Ability to monitor, measure, diagnose and trouble-shoot network problems with the assistance of software/hardware devices specifically designed for this purpose
*Ability to rapidly transition work activities from defining "big picture" needs to working on the minuscule details of a concept, problem, and/or project activities
*Ability to assess impacts of proposed automation projects as it relates to this position's functional responsibilities
*Ability to write and/or oversee the development of detailed documents and project plans
*Ability to take ownership of assigned projects and bring them to completion with minimal oversight
*Must be able to prioritize projects and problems according to established guidelines
*Efficient time management skills

*Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required
