Description

Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland is looking for an Occupational Therapist. Located in Southern Maryland, we are only 20 miles south of Washington, DC.

SUMMARY:  Under limited supervision, evaluates for, develops, and administers occupational therapy treatment programs for referred patients.  Programs are designed to restore function, prevent disability following injury or disease, and assist patients in achieving maximum performance.  Patients served include child thru adult-geriatric.  Sites of service may include:  Inpatient, Outpatient, and Home Health.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the position, BS or MS in Occupational Therapy required. Preferred one year experience as an Occupational Therapist in a hospital setting. One year experience as an Occupational Therapist required before the start of home health assignments.

SKILLS & ABILITIES: The ability to ensure the confidentiality and rights of all patient and departmental documents is required. Must be able to deal effectively with stress, patients and their families, multiple tasks, noises, interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a pleasant demeanor. Expected to respond to emergency situations involving the safety of the patient in their homes. (This includes the ability to assist with a possible evacuation of patient, or notify the proper agency/facility in case of any type of emergency situations such as calling an ambulance or the fire department.)

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: Current license or temporary license as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Maryland. Current certification by the NBCOT, preferred.CPR (BLS) certification. For Home Health, current driver’s license and auto insurance.
