Description Denbury Resources Inc. (DRI) is a growing independent oil and gas company. The Company is the largest oil and natural gas operator in Mississippi and owns the largest reserves of CO2 used for tertiary oil recovery east of the Mississippi River. The Company increases the value of acquired properties in its core areas through a combination of exploitation wellwork and proven engineering extraction practices.

DRI is currently looking for a Field Drilling Superintendent in our Laurel, Mississippi office. This position will report to the Drilling Manager and the candidate must be experienced in well design, cost estimating/procedures with day to day drilling operations supervision.

Required Experience:
The Field Drilling Superintendent provides a vital link between the Corporate Denbury Drilling Group and the Field Drilling Operations.

The Field Drilling Supt (DS) is required to perform the following duties:

• Supervision of Contract Consultants & Daily Operations – The DS supervises the contract drilling consultants on the rigs and acts as Denbury’s eyes and ears in the field. This is a 24 hour job. Denbury does not normally have any company employees on the drilling locations, so the role of DS is vital in ensuring compliance with Denbury’s Policy’s and Procedures. The DS works with the Drilling Engineer and provides practical hands on knowledge based on field experience.

• Field Drilling Support – The position is based in the field and the DS supervises daily rig activity, the Location Coordinator and Drilling Admin Assistant in the Laurel Office. The DS works with the Location Coordinator, Land & the HSE Field rep to make sure the drill site pits and sites are properly cleaned up. The DS is also used to fill in as needed when the Location Coordinator is busy or on vacation.

• HSE & Regulatory Compliance – The DS ensures compliance by the Drilling contractor and service companies on Denbury drill sites. He works closely with Denbury’s HSE Department throughout the drill process and handles any issues that arise.

• Drilling problems – Site support. The Drilling Supt is called upon to respond to a variety of well problems including stuck pipe, fishing, well control and other issues. The DS works with the field contract representative and makes recommendations to the Drilling Manager or Engineer.

• Bid control and documentation- The DS handles part of the bidding along with documentation. In the past this was not emphasized very much but is critical to insure savings and compliance with Denbury’s purchasing policy.

• Cost Control, Invoice Management & Approval – The DS provides some portions of the invoice approval. We also consider this a critical area that needs improvement to make sure field cost and invoices are coded to proper AFE’s/categories.

• Vendor issue resolution – The DS arranges and handles vendor problems to resolve poor performance, HSE issues, billing or other problems.

• Materials – The DS assists with the Material Control Management and verification along with documentation of movement and proper billing. A post well analysis on the casing delivered, used and returned is required after each well and the DS must verify the movements. The DS must also verify damage claims to drill pipe and other rental items prior to payment.
