 Manufacturing Engineer


 

 

DSI Mining & Tunneling North America is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to be located in the Cambridge, OH facility. The successful candidate will report to the Plant Manager.

 

DSI Mining & Tunneling North America is a division of DYWIDAG-Systems International headquartered in Munich, Germany. DSI produces and supplies high quality products for mining and construction applications around the world.

 

Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards while providing employees with a safe working environment.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include: 

  • designing, developing, testing and/or sourcing cost-justified tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Must perform research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
  • Must prepare and maintain detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
  • Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
  • Apply statistical methods and perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Develops applies and maintains quality standards, inspections processes and tests methodology, quality plans, documents and reports.
  • Ensure proper inspections have been performed to ensure product quality.
  • This includes the inspection of incoming material as well as in process and final inspection of completed product.
  • Designs safety features and controls to compensate for the possibility of human errors in the operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Eliminates or controls hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and/or property damage to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. C
  • ommunicates with co-workers, management, customers and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years related experience required.

  • Thorough knowledge Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple products through manufacturing process.

  • Quality (ISO 9001) orientation and high attention to detail.

  • Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment.

  • Problem analysis and problem resolution.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Team player.

  • Safety conscious.

  • Previous managing experience in a Union work environment.

  • Computer proficiency.

 

Physical requirements include:

  • Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, stand; walk; and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee will be exposed to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold and/or chemicals. 
  • Safety glasses with side shields, gloves and safety shoes are required in all production areas.
