Research Analyst

We currently have opportunities for Research Analysts. The successful candidates will provide research and analytic support to Burgess consulting projects. Consulting projects may include: Medicare policy research; health insurance claims analysis; fee schedule creation; financial model development; Medicare reimbursement education; database research. This position reports to the Vice President of Health Economics and Reimbursement.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Researching and summarizing Medicare laws, regulations and/or policies

• Performing other internet-based research when needed

• Supporting device clients reimbursement hotline by answering standard reimbursement questions

• Inputting, manipulating, extracting, cleaning data and using databases to organize and retrieve data/information

• Preparing written and Excel-based reports

• Learning and using Burgess Reimbursement System (BRS) software on client projects

• Creating fee schedules and data reports for clients

• Developing simple, Excel-based financial models

• Developing Power Point presentations on Medicare reimbursement and related topics for internal and external use

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Care Management, statistics, economics or related field

• 0 – 2 years of health care payer, provider, or research experience

• Self-starter/willingness to learn

• Skilled at internet research

• Strong technical and problem-solving skills

• Aptitude for detail-oriented work

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently

• Strong organizational, interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Proficiency in the use of Power Point, Excel, Access or SQL, SAS skills preferred.
