CATIA v5 Plastic Injection Tooling Mold Designer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete assigned mold tooling design projects as requested by the appropriate personnel on time.
  • Make all appropriate personnel aware of any potential mold tooling design problems/issues/questions.
  • Adhere to customer standards on all mold tool designs.
  • Maintain and organize all engineering job file folders for assigned projects.
  • Complete Bill Of Material, write and submit a purchase RFQ for required components.
  • Produce CATIA v5 2D Drawings when required.
  • Complete required check list on assigned projects.
  • Integrate new design engineering data received and perform any design changes required.
  • Attend customer meeting on your mold tooling design projects.
Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 5 to 8 years of CAD experience preferrably in tooling.  3 years of plastic injection mold tooling design experience.
  • 3 years of CATIA v5 software design experience including 3D Solid Modeling, Surfacing (class B, parting lines) and 2D Draft 
  • Thorough knowledge of the plastic injection mold tool making process
  • Strong communication skills to closely interact with all departments on tooling design issues/concerns
  • Ability to start a new concept design tooling mold build from customer data, tip and rotate 3D solid model into mold postion and propose any part changes that may reduce mechanisms or simplify tool. Ability to propose any additional changes with a Continuous Improvement mindset.
  • Plastic injection mold manufacturing shop floor experience would be an asset


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Degree plus extensive drafting training, 2 or 4 year technical degree preferred
  • CATIA v5 training: 3D Solid Modeling, Surfacing (class B, parting lines) and 2D Draft 

 

This opportunity is located in Ontario, Canada 30-40 minutes from the tunnel.  Passport and international travel credentials are required.
