Description

DESCRIPTION:    Under the supervision of the Director, the Occupational Therapist develops and implements appropriate treatment programs for the adult population with problems/diagnoses which include, but are not limited to: amputee, CVA, general rehabilitation, neurological, and orthopedic; maintains ongoing communication with Director, Senior/Lead Therapist, and Medical Staff; collaborates with the Nursing Staff and other Ancillary Departments to provide the patient with optimal care; maintains and upgrades job skill level; assists in developing new programs and providing ongoing education of hospital staff to the functions of Occupational Therapy; and fosters therapeutic milieu.

 

Requirements

·        Graduation from a school of Occupational Therapy, which is accredited by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association, current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association, and current CPR card are required.

·        Membership in the Illinois Occupational Therapy Association and evidence of continued study within the profession is desirable.

·        The physical demand level and degree of strenuous activity ranges from some sedentary work with a certain amount of walking and standing to frequent very heavy work involving lifting up to and in excess of 100 pounds of force and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move object.

Must have good verbal and written communication skills and ability to substitute for the Director and initiate normal operations of the department.  Must have flexibility and/or creativity executing treatment in Occupational Therapy programs and an interest in assisting with the development and implementation of new programs.
