MICROBIOLOGIST
Clinical Research Management, Inc. (CRM) is a Government Contractor specializing in infectious disease research in the U.S. and aboard. CRM provides GxP services, research personnel, and support services, contributing to the development of vaccines, drugs, and devices, to help prevent, diagnose, and treat human disease. CRM has an immediate need for a Microbiologist in Frederick, Maryland.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Shall engage in research with pathogenic bacteria including, but not limited to, Bacillus anthracis to support the research project. 2. Design and conduct animal challenge experiments to evaluate pathogenicity and vaccine efficacy. Conduct experiments involving recombinant DNA technology to include cloning, PCR, gene deletion, microarrays, gene expression, etc. 3. Participate in bioinformatic analysis of bacterial genes to identify virulence factors and mechanisms. 4. Participate in additional activities which include growing pathogenic organisms, immunological assays and protein purification. 5. Prepare and defend animal protocols. 6. Prepare manuscripts for publication. Contribute to writing of grant proposals and quarterly reports. 7. Provide technical assistance to CRM Headquarters as needed and participate on proposal writing projects when requested. 8. Provide all job-related progress reports/technical reports as requested. 9. Maintain a safe workplace ensuring that he/she is aware of and observes appropriate safety and occupational health rules and regulations. Employee is required to attend safety training relative to his/her position and report any infractions of safety procedures to the facility Safety Officer. 10. Performs light duties and other related duties as required and assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
1. Ph.D. is required with a minimum of 6 years experience. 2. Experience in working under BSL3 conditions with pathogenic bacteria. 3. Bio-safety Level 2 and Bio-safety Level 3 (BSL 2/3) required. 4. Special Immunization Program required for BSL-3 required. 5. Enrollment in Biosurety Personnel Reliability program (BPRP). 6.. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: knowledge of applicable highly complex scientific procedures and techniques relating to position. 7. Must be able to work independently following a brief period of specific technical training. 8. Must be a US Citizen to meet DoD (Dept of Defense) security requirements. ATTRIBUTES
