Description LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE POSITION OPENING AT OUR CLARKSVILLE, TN CLINIC LOCATION

Due to our continued growth we are seeking experienced Licensed Practical Nurses!

PURPOSE OF JOB:
To provide cancer patients with safe, quality patient care throughout their treatment and disease process.

MAJOR DUTIES:
  1. Reviews and prepares charts for upcoming patient visits. (Writes pertinent information on the patient schedule, prepares any necessary lab requisitions, identifies treatments that require pre-certification.)
  2. Responsible for assisting the telephone triage nurse.
  3. Assists lab personnel in collecting blood specimens, obtaining vital signs, and placing patients in exam rooms when there is a need. 
  4. Updates medication logs and questions patients concerning any new medical problems they are experiencing and documents accordingly. This should be done prior to physician entering patient room.
  5. Administer medications correctly as ordered by physician. (Includes, but not limited to, ranesp, Neulasta, Neupogen and Leukine.)
  6. May access vascular access devices after he/she has received proper instruction and has successfully demonstrated competency in front of a RN.
  7. Assists with procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, paracenteses, etc.
  8. Documents on the charge ticket and in medical record any services performed and any medication(s) given.
  9. Enters the medications and doses given to patient, in the LYNX machine for billing purposes.
  10. Assists with patient education when necessary.
  11. Patient counseling and referral to appropriate support services under the direction of the physician.
  12. Informs clinic managers of clinic needs and concerns relating to the work environment.
  13. Floats to other clinics when there is a need and when it is requested of him/her.
  14. Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth.
  15. Works overtime if there is a need, and supervisor has approved it.
  16. Participates on committees as requested of him/her.
  17. Attends all mandatory in-services and meetings.
  18. Adheres to all practice guidelines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift up to 250 pounds assisted.

Requirements We are seeking Licensed Practical Nurses with Oncology experience in an outpatient facility!

  • Must hold an LPN License in the State of Tennessee.
  • Chemotherapy certification preferable.

Location: Clarksville Clinic

Our clinic hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm.
