Every day our Progress Database Engineers:

• Perform code and design reviews
• Meet with management to ensure satisfaction with the data collection, presentation, and other efforts
• Understand the options available to support High Availability within the UNIX Technology Stack
• Work with and provide technical leadership to other team members
• Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as dump/loads, upgrades and extent management
• Oversee data consistency and third party interfaces
• Work closely with development teams and are responsible for physical database design and implementation as well as performance tuning
• Work closely with application architects to design and implement system interfaces for in house and vendor systems
• Enhance database backup and restore procedures, monitoring procedures, database development and deployment standards, and other database related areas as needed

• BSCS Degree
• Knowledge related to computer hardware including networks and storage devices
• Ability to understand large data models quickly
• Database design/architecture experience in a UNIX/Progress environment
• Database administration operations experience in a UNIX/Progress environment
• Expert knowledge of 4GL coding skill
• Expertise in strategies and approaches for performance optimization, clustering, and replication such as Fathom replication, Application Server, etc.
• Superior relationship management skills
