Description
The primary purpose of your position is, under the leadership of the Director of Nursing, assume management and leadership of the Nursing Department in accordance with the Deaconess mission philosophy and as directed by the Director of Nursing. The Assistant Director of Nursing performs selected acts for the promotion of health and in the care of persons who are ill, injured, or experiencing alterations in the normal health process. The Assistant Director of Nursing may act on behalf of the Director of Nursing, as delegated by the Director of Nursing, for defined periods of time. As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
1. Participate in the development and evaluation of care delivery systems.
2. Participate in the establishment of clinical goals and mechanisms to address departmental and nursing unit needs and deficiencies.
3. Participate in the development of and supports management goals for the Nursing Department based on assessed departmental needs/deficiencies.
4. Participate in the establishment of and supports implementation of policies specific to the Nursing Department.
5. Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and other nursing leadership in the development of and presentation of proposals concerning issues in the delivery of care which effect the Nursing Department and other departments.
6. Participate in the development and implementation of new programs

Requirements
Experience
Experience as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing in past is a plus.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Past work history should reflect positions of progressively more responsibility.
Must be knowledgeable of current standards of nursing practice and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
Ability to apply nursing techniques to specific patient situations.
Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, charts and reports.
Ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks in a professional manner.
Ability is exhibited through past work record.
Ability to promote Resident quality of life and quality of care as evidenced by regulatory agency survey results.
Ability to relate information concerning a Resident’s condition.
Knowledge of human resources management including hiring, performance management, grievances, terminations.
Ability to assign and coordinate the work of health professionals in order to provide comprehensive care for residents.
Ability to follow detailed written and oral directions.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Bilingual abilities may be required.
Does not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the work place.
Skill in the use of the sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a physical examination and Tuberculosis test.
Ability to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 3 feet.
Education
Must have a MO Licensed Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university. BSN preferred.
Must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care institution.
Must have 2 years’ direct care experience and exhibit strong skills in clinical assessment.
Must exhibit a record of coordinating and conducting continuous education inserve programs covering nursing issues as needed and required by regulations for staff at the facility level.
