Accretive Health is a venture funded, highly entrepreneurial company focused on changing the way hospitals operate in the 21st Century. We manage the revenue cycle for non-profit hospitals from beginning to end while qualifying more patients for insurance reimbursements. We are a fast-growing company built on the strongest team and technology in a unique company culture.
One key aspect of hospital revenue cycle operations is superior performance in the area of collections. We are currently looking to add Patient Financial Counselors to our team as part of our growth plans. This position offers an environment that is professional and entrepreneurial in nature.
Patient Financial Counselors perform a variety of duties and responsibilities related to the collection of hospital accounts receivable. The primary function of Patient Financial Counselors is making outbound phone calls to initiate contact and arrange for patients to pay their portion of the account. The position requires the ability to initiate calls and effectively respond to patient billing inquiries. Patient financial counselors must be knowledgeable and compliant with federal and state regulations, in addition to hospital requirements pertaining to the collection of accounts.
Accretive Health is currently looking for PT Patient Financial Counselors to work primarily evenings from 5 pm to 9 pm in our downtown Kalamazoo location.
Requirements
-Must be positive and upbeat
-Ability to work well both independently and on a team to reach/exceed company goals
-Must possess outstanding customer service skills
-Must be a team player, innovator, and demonstrate a willingness to go the extra mile
-Experience in an outbound call center environment is a plus
-Debt collections experience in health care, credit card, or financial services a plus
-Willingness to try new approaches with the ability to adapt to frequent change
-Empathy and compassion are extremely important in this role
-Must be able to handle patient complaints and concerns while remaining focused on
providing a positive patient experience
-Must be detail-oriented and have great listening skills
-Knowledge of third party insurance verification systems is preferred
-High school diploma or equivalent is required
Finally, must be action-oriented, compassionate, an excellent negotiator, skilled at maintaining composure, driven for results, a great listener, able to manage conflict, and able to effectively cope with change.
