Description McLaren Visiting Nurse and Hospice, a subsidiary of McLaren Health Care, has several openings that we are recruiting for. 

Positions include:

  • Occupational Therapist - in the Sterling Heights area
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing occupational therapy services to homebound patients in accordance with agency policies.

  • Physical Therapist - in the Lansing area

The Physical Therapist is responsible for coordinating and participating in the delivery of patient/resident/client physical therapy following hospital and departmental policies.

 

  • Physical Therapy Assistant- in the Bay area

The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing physical therapy accordance to homebound patients in accordance with agency policies, and under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

 

  • Registered Nurse - in the Lansing area
Under the supervision of the Clinical Nursing Supervisor and in accordance with agency standards and policies, implements the agency program of full time professional nursing service to patients. Promotes the Hospice concept to the terminally ill clients and families.

  • Speech Therapist - in the Davison area
The Speech Therapist is responsible for providing services to homebound patients in coordination with agency policies.

 

Requirements

Occupational Therapist requirements include:

Experience required:

  •   Must exhibit understanding and knowledge of development of plans for patient care.
  • Must demonstrate ability to exercise independent judgement and accept and utilize supervision.

  • Must have the ability to recognize needs of, and express concern for, people.

  • Must have the ability to maintain constructive working relationships with patients, co-workers, community members, organizations and physicians.

  • Must have the ability to hear and see the client in order to monitor their condition. Must be able to discriminate objects by color.

  • Must have the ability to work with or near chemicals such as peroxide, Dakins, burrows, bleach or other biological or allergenic substance used in wound care.

  • Must have the ability to work near fumes such as wound odors, home odors, cigarette / cigar / pipe smoke.

  • Must have the ability to work in or near dust as normal environmental dust or skin products.

  • Must be able to work near radiation sources such as patients post radiation, receiving RT, cobalt, etc.

  • Must be able to wear protective clothing equipment such as gloves, masks, respirators, isolation gowns, etc.

  • Physical and emotional health and maturity to function effectively.

  • Ability to read, write, and carry out written / oral directions.

  • Must be knowledgeable of good body mechanics and practice safe body mechanics.

  • Ability to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, bend, climb, kneel, keyboard and drive for periods up to two-hour increments. time, one to four-hour increments.

  • Ability to lift 5-25 pounds above head.

Education required:

  • Current certification by the AOTCB (American Occupational Therapy Certification Board).
  • Registration as Certified Occupational Therapist under Michigan Board of Occupational Therapists.
  • Minimum of one (1) year occupational therapy experience in physical disabilities.
  • Current Michigan driver’s license and proof of valid automobile insurance.


Physical Therapist
requirements include:
Education required:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing and current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of Michigan. Preference will be given to applicants with educational preparation appropriate to the immediate or long-range needs of the agency.
  • Two years of professional nursing experience in an acute care setting, or equivalent.
  • One year experience in Home Health and/or Hospice or equivalent experience (1 year of Oncology, Nursing Home or ICU experience).
  • Current Michigan driver’s license and proof of valid automobile insurance.


Physical Therapy Assistant
requirements include:
Education required:

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Physical Therapist Assistants.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance.


Registered Nurse
requirements include:
Knowledge/Skills required

  • Comprehensive knowledge and skill in current nursing practice.
  • Must have the ability to organize and function in assigned area.
  • Must exhibit understanding and knowledge of development of plans for patient care.
  • Must demonstrate ability to exercise independent judgment and also accept and utilize supervision.
  • Must have the ability to recognize needs of, and express concern for, people.
  • Must have the ability to maintain constructive working relationships with patients, co-workers, community members, organizations and physicians.
  • Must be physically able to perform requirements of the job.
  • Must have the ability to hear and see the client in order to monitor their condition. Must be able to discriminate objects by color.

  • Must have the ability to work in extremes of hot and cold temperatures or in wet surroundings.
