Resident Product Development Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

Employee will be “In Resident" with Group Dekko’s customer Whirlpool in Clyde, Ohio. The position will entail product introductions, evaluation and improvement of Dekko product issues and performance at the customer’s sight, identification of new opportunities, strong interaction with customer Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Procurement with the objective of supporting current products while identifying and capitalizing on new product opportunities as well as cost reduction for existing products.

JOB SITUATIONAL GOALS

Identification of new product opportunities and record of those achieved with sales dollars, cost reduction opportunities, expansion of Dekko products, quality improvements resulting is reduced costs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gain thorough knowledge of Customer’s process and products.
• Identify new product opportunities.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities to benefit the customer and Dekko.
• Establish a network of contacts and opportunities to develop those contacts for utilization of Dekko products and services.
• Define annual Dollar opportunities against those won versus those available.
• Establish regular written report structure to demonstrate performance and progress with customer.

SPECIFICATIONS

• Must have a good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Must have a design background and be capable of identifying applications for Dekko products.
• Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

BSME, BSEE, or equivalent.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports directly to Dekko’s Product Development Engineering Manager and has a dotted line to the Dekko’s Strategic Account Manager, Quality Manager, EVP of Operations and EVP of Sales. Also will have a reporting responsibility to the Customer’s selected resource(s).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• BS Engineering (or equivalent) with a good understanding of electrical/mechanical engineering
• Pro - e experience required, Autocad and others a plus
• Minimum 5 years experience in a production environment
• Excellent communication and customer interaction skills a must
• Must have excellent problem solving skills
• Must be Quality oriented and possess quality monitoring and improvement skills

Reports to the Global Product Development Engineering Manager

Following are some of the customer oriented functions for which this position will responsibility.

1. Direct interface to Customer Engineering and Design / Development teams
2. Direct interface to Customer Quality
3. Daily evaluation and disposition of line rejects
4. Support for new product launches
5. First Piece Approval responsibility for customer production release
6. Corrective action program implementation and management
7. Product revision implementation
8. Pilot run support
9. Technical interface to customer for cost and quality improvement initiatives
10. Rapid response availability to assigned facility
