Position Description:
Under general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy develops departmental operating budget; monitors all departmental financial functions, quality assurance functions, and inventory control functions for cost effective delivery of pharmacy services; participates in the total quality management of the department.
Requirements
Principal Responsibilities
1.0 Participate actively in the total quality management of the department
2.0 Participate in development of annual departmental operating budget and capital expense budget for the acute care hospital and rehabilitation center
3.0 Monitor departmental finances to maintain expenses within budgeted projections base on volumes
4.0 Supervise inventory control functions of the department
5.0 With Pharmacy Director, coordinate quality assurance functions of the department
6.0 Miscellaneous duties
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA’s and St. David’s “Patients First" safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
• Reading (computer screens, patient charts and medication profiles, clinical and financial reports, journals, business correspondence); preparation of minutes, memos, reports, lectures, and newsletter articles; communication via telephone, computer and face-to-face with individuals and large groups; excellent interpersonal skills with all types of professionals; ability to use telephone.
EDUCATION: Required: B.S Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy (5-year equivalent program).

EXPERIENCE: Required: 5+ years hospital pharmacy experience.
Preferred: Previous experience as assistant director of pharmacy for 100+ bed hospital and/or 2 years supervisory experience.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Required: Texas State Board of Pharmacy license.
