Position Description:
Molecular Profiling (MP) at Client Research Laboratories (MRL) consists of a number of resource groups working together to accelerate discovery and development through application of genomics, proteomics and other emerging technologies. The Molecular Profiling Program Manager (MPPM) coordinates the activities of multidisciplinary teams including functional area specialists, scientists, and clinicians to execute strategies for use of molecular profiling technologies in drug development. These teams are responsible for supporting all phases of the development pipeline, from Client identification through to the elucidation of biomarkers that will be ultimately used in a clinical development setting.
Responsibilities:
MPPMs support Franchise and Function Molecular Profiling efforts through the application of Project Management expertise:
1) Strategic planning with MP senior managers of Franchise and Function MP projects and management of portfolios and budgets
2) Providing MP technology expertise in the planning and execution of MP studies in coordination with scientific teams and collaborators, working with MP Project Coordinators and Operations as well as Client resource groups in external scientific affairs, legal and procurement where needed
3) Serving as a “central point of contact" and liaison for clinical and basic teams during study execution to technology providers, and vice versa for technology providers to scientific teams
4) Responsible for efficient cross-functional communication and alignment of MP Core Teams and Sub-teams
5) Management of MP-wide departmental and cross-departmental resource planning and portfolio management meetings
6) Leading or participating in process improvement strategic initiatives
Qualifications:
· Minimum educational requirements:
· B.S. degree with a focus in Molecular Biology or related discipline, plus 5-7 years of relevant work experience
· M.S. plus 3-5 years work experience in a pharmaceutical discovery/development setting.
· PhD plus 1-3 years work experience in a pharmaceutical discovery/development setting.
· A background in the study of human disease is highly desirable.
· Experience with Molecular Profiling technologies (i.e. mRNA microarray profiling, microRNA profiling, DNA genotyping, sequencing and proteomics), or demonstrated ability to expeditiously learn and apply new technologies
· Direct work experience managing programs within a drug discovery / clinical development setting is highly desired.
· Project Management experience is required.
· Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and have a demonstrated ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize.
· Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
· Must be able to work well in an interdisciplinary team environment.
· Must have strong communication/negotiation and problem resolution skills, both written and verbal.
· PMP certification is highly desired
