Job Functions :
As Director of Hospitality Services Laundry/Housekeeping, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. Responsible for daily operations of the laundry department. Supervises the Laundry Technician I.
Duties and Responsibilities of Director of Hospitality Laundry/Housekeeping
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Laundry/Housekeeping Department, its programs and activities.
Maintain written laundry policies and procedures.
Assist the laundry/housekeeping staff in the use of departmental policies and procedures, and the use of equipment, supplies, etc.
Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc.
Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the Laundry /housekeepingDepartment.
Coordinate laundry services and activities with other related departments (i.e., Dietary, Nursing, Activities, etc.).
Make written oral reports/recommendations to the Executive Director as necessary/required concerning the operation of the Laundry/Housekeeping Department.
Ensure that laundry personnel handle, sort, wash, and distribute laundry and linen in accordance with the facility’s infection control policies and procedures governing such tasks.
Inspect storage rooms, linen closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control.
Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc.
Develop and implement a system to monitor compliance with safety, sanitation, and infection control guidelines, including logs and other records.
Conduct and document annual performance evaluations on laundry aides.
Provide input into the budget relative to laundry needs and comply with budgetary guidelines.
Attend and participate in facility meetings, including those relating to Infection Control/Safety/Quality Improvement, as assigned.
Direct implementation of corrective action needed as a result of internal or external inspections.
Implement recommendations from established committees (i.e., Infection Control, Safety, QA, etc.).
Hire, train, and supervise a sufficient number of laundry departmental staff to ensure assigned tasks are effectively addressed.
Review complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel.
Conduct departmental performance evaluations in accordance with the facility’s policies and procedures.
Director of Hospitality Services II- Preceptor
May be trained and assigned to perform the Customer Care Liaison duties as needed.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
Education
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.
Experience :
Must have a minimum of two (2) years laundry experience in an institutional environment. Must possess knowledge of regulatory standards related to safety and sanitation.
Specific Requirements :
Must be knowledgeable of laundry/housekeeping practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing laundry functions in nursing care facilities.
Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Laundry/Housekeeping Department.
Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of laundry areas, must perform regular inspections of laundry areas for sanitation, order, and safety.
