Description The largest senior healthcare facility in the Southeastern US, serving more than 700 senior patients and thousands more through our comprehensive services and community based locations, is seeking a qualified Senior Manager of Purchasing and Central Supply.

The incumbent is responsible for the procurement and receipt, of supplies and equipment throughout the Miami Jewish Health System.  Establish approved vendors, purchase and manage inventory of medical supplies for Nursing Home and Hospital.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Manages the purchase of supplies, equipment and services for MJHS.  Provides appropriate priority to purchases supporting patient care.
  • Manages the distribution of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains good working relationships with vendors to ensure cost-effective purchases and delivery practices.
  • Manages the Purchasing & Central Supply department personnel and budget.  Directs, coordinates and trains department staff to insure the achievement of MJHS and Department goals.
  • Maintains records, documentation and filing system of purchases, deliveries and product information.  Produces statistical reports of purchasing activities.
Requirements Must possess Bachelors degree preferably in business, finance or related degree plus 5-7 years experience in purchasing & materials management, with experience in a healthcare organization required. Experience managing a purchasing and/or materials management function.

  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and application of purchasing and negotiations
  • Knowledge of group purchasing organizations
  • Basic knowledge of federal and state laws that govern the work area managed
  • Understanding of materials management principals especially for medical supplies
  • Experience with integrated materials management & accounting information system required, understanding of MEDITECH preferred
