Accounting Supervisor

Description Gannett is seeking an Accounting Supervisor for its National Shared Service Center (NSSC) in Indianapolis, IN.  The Accounting Supervisor will supervise the general ledger accounting staff and functions and be responsible for financial reporting of multiple Gannett units.  The selected candidates will ensure adherence to all financial policies and procedures where required, including US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and Gannett policies.  Establish and maintains relations with business unit personnel during migration phase and throughout normal operations.  Manage the migration phase for one team of accounting personnel.  Interface with business unit personnel to resolve accounting issues as they arise during normal operations.  Supervise staff during the month end closing processes including review of journal entries, profit and loss schedules and overall timeliness of data provided to the business units.  Personally required to handle some month end functions. Review and approve month end balance sheet reconciliations. Complete more complex reconciliations with General Ledger Manager review.  Responsible for directing staff’s duties including planning, scheduling, coaching, and training and the ability to analyze staff’s functions with a vision of streamlining processes.  Assist with internal/external audits and ensure ongoing compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and company established policies.

Requirements

·          Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or business related discipline

·          Minimum 3 – 5 years financial systems analysis

·          Minimum 3 – 5 years of accounting supervisory experience

·          Shared Service experience preferred

·          Excellent communication and problem solving/analytical skills are required

·          Must have demonstrated ability to interpret and implement accounting policies and procedures with a high degree of

           accuracy in a fast paced environment

·          Solid balance sheet account reconciliation background

·          Strong knowledge of US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley

·          Detail oriented with the ability to handle high volume of data

·          Excellent interpersonal skills with emphasis on superior customer service

·          Good working knowledge of MS Office environment

·          Good knowledge of accounting policies and procedures

·          Knowledge of Lawson general ledger and accounts payable preferred

·          CPA qualification is a plus
