Manager of Applicaton Development

Being the Manager of Application Development at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana means:

Being responsible for setting strategic direction for the applications development group, providing guidance to Application Developers on application development project and resource management issues.  This individual will also be an IT ambassador with responsibilities to strengthen the relationship between IT and the business and promote project management culture throughout the organization.  This position will collaborate with IS management to set direction for the IS department  to continually improve IS service and quality.

Our ideal candidate will possess:

Education and/or Experience:        

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience

·         7+ years IT experience

·         4+ years of  Manager level experience

·         Demonstrated knowledge and skills in multiple technology disciplines (Microsoft .NET, IBM WebSphere, and/or Open Source)

·         Demonstrated knowledge and skills in multiple IT disciplines (IT Governance, ITIL, and COBIT)

·         Proficient in mainframe CICS COBOL, Visual Basic, and/or J2EE development platforms

·         Active practitioner of a well-known project management methodology or System Development Life Cycle methodology (PMBOK, RUP, PRINCE)

·         Proven experience in Web application and architecture development

·         Proven experience in large scale project management

·         Proven experience in SDLC creation, implementation and enforcement.

·         Strong interpersonal skills

Desired Requirements:

·         Insurance experience; healthcare is a plus

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:      

·         Industry certifications are desirable
