Description

This HireStrategy client is looking for a Senior Accounting Officer to join their team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and leads the accounting team responsible for the accounting, pricing/valuation, control and reporting of Treasury's capital markets activities, encompassing all nature of global fixed income debt issuance and derivatives-based structured financing instruments;
  • Develops and nurtures a highly skilled and responsive team to ensure the capability and flexibility to respond to rapidly changing market conditions, corporate and client demands.
  • Acts as internal and external spokesperson on all matters relating to accounting and valuation of client portfolios, including coordination with internal and external auditors, and delivers professional consulting globally for capacity-building with central banks and other official sector institutions.
  • Participates actively, through policy or issue notes, to advance best-practice throughout the organization.
  • Ensures effective quality control and review of daily, monthly, quarterly and year-end deliverables and reporting requirements for Treasury's worldwide clients;
  • Determines and implements the appropriate accounting treatment for new types of transactions in collaboration with colleagues across finance; drives business and system initiatives for accounting, valuation and market data as necessary.
  • Coordinating, prioritizing and leading projects to keep pace with business needs.
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to improve productivity through cost savings or by seeking scale economies in Treasury Operations' activities.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A well qualified professional with a MA or MS in Finance, Accounting or related discipline, or a Bachelor's degree and a Professional Accounting Certification (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant working experience, including several years of supervisory experience, ideally gained in the financial services industry.
  • A thorough understanding of industry practices, policies and current developments in transaction processing technology and accounting related to global fixed income investments, debt issuance and derivatives-based structured financing.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS as it relates to financial institutions.
  • Knowledge of the MISYS Summit system is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present complex and technical issues with clarity and objectivity.
