JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction and guidance of the Manager – Programs & Services, this position is responsible for the overall provision of classroom and clinical instruction in the Health Care Training Program, including instruction provided by the alternate nurse instructors, instructor assistants, and guest lecturers.
MAJOR DUTIES PERFORMED
·Responsible for creating and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to teaching
and learning.
·In conjunction with the Supervisor, ensures compliance with State, Federal, and/or
grant guidelines.
·Responsible for maintaining accurate and current information on student progress.
·Completes records and reports as needed.
·Works with the equipment clerk to ensure adequacy of supplies and equipment for classrooms.
·Works in conjunction with other instructors in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
This includes; set-up of the classroom, laboratory and clinical site and maintenance/inventory
of equipment and supplies used in the program.
·Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse License
Current State of Michigan Train-the-Trainer certificate
Three (3) years experience teaching adults in a formal classroom setting.
One (1) year long term care and/or home health care preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
·Must have knowledge of OBRA requirements for long term care.
·Must have knowledge and skill in modern educational technology.
·Must have the ability to motivate students.
·Must have the ability to provide guidance, consultation and direction to students.
·Must have the ability to effectively demonstrate personal competence in the performance
of nursing and related tasks.
·Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
·Must have a valid Michigan driver’s license.
·Must be able to work a flexible schedule within the Tri-county area.
·Knowledge of adult learning theory is preferred.
·Knowledge of American Red Cross organization, policies and services preferred.
