Description
King Soopers is hiring pharmacy technicians area at multiple locations. The pharmacy technician's role is to increase the efficiency of the Pharmacy by assisting the pharmacist to prepare prescriptions and maintain the Pharmacy department as well as, provide the highest standards of customer service; to ensure the work shift contributes to the best financial interests of the store. If not currently certified you will be required to become certified.
Duties and Responsibilities - (Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist)
General
1. Ensure compliance with all state, county and local weights and measures laws and labeling requirements.
2. Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations.
3. Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress regulations, enforcing grooming standards throughout the department.
4. Gather and record information needed to fill prescriptions.
5. File written prescriptions forms after prescriptions are dispensed.
6. Help pharmacists prepare prescriptions by counting or pouring medications, labeling containers, and pricing prescriptions.
7. Process insurance forms and verify payments.
8. Maintain cleanliness of counter and work areas on a continuous basis.
9. Take medication to shelves.
10. Receive refill requests from patients over the phone.
11. Obtain patient health information.
12. Develop knowledge about over-the-counter drugs and answer customer questions in accordance with federal guidelines. (Only licensed Pharmacists may recommend over-the-counter drugs).
13. Place completed prescriptions in the appropriate pick-up area.
14. Ensure favorable department image to customers by maintaining a clean, attractive and friendly department.
15. Observe shift operating hours at all times as scheduled or assigned.
16. Plan and organize development plan including setting goals, prioritizing and organizing tasks and developing appropriate time lines.
17. Meet work schedule requirements consistently and punctually.
18. Recognize company insurance programs.
19. Demonstrate ability to operate computer system.
20. Input data accurately into the pharmacy system.
21. Adhere to all state and federal guidelines concerning restrictions on drug and procedures.
22. Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
23. Adhere to all HIPAA Regulations and uphold Patient Privacy rules. Customer Relations .
Customer Relations
1. Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service or assistance.
2. Handle customer problems and concerns in a calm and professional manner, refer to manager.
3. Receive written prescriptions or telephoned refill requests.
4. Help customers locate over-the counter medications.
5. Answer telephone and handle questions that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise or judgment and according to federal guidelines.
6. Adhere to all standards outlined in the Customer 1st Service Plus Program.
Employee Relations 1. Assist in training personnel when assigned.
2. Always work as a team with the pharmacist, and follow their instructions precisely when filling medications.
3. Maintain good communications in the store and throughout the organization.
4. Notify manager of personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performance or of situations requiring disciplinary action or that may potentially require such action. Cash Control
Employee Relations
1. Ensure that all sales are properly recorded into department registers in accordance with company policies and procedures.
2. Adhere to all cash handling procedure guidelines and company policies as related to One Touch Accounting.
3. Notify manager promptly of any problems with the register.
4. Ring third party charges on a daily basis and turns them in to be processed.
5. Promptly report to management any suspicious activity with regard to cash control. Labor Control
Cash Relations
1. Record all shift hours worked in the Kronos Biometric Reader.
2. Achieve established benchmarks by working with a ‘sense of urgency’.
3. Honestly keep breaks and lunches within the prescribed limits. Supply Control

1. Control excessive use of supplies.
2. Ensures needed pharmacy supplies are well stocked at all times.
3. Order medications and return medications as needed. Inventory Control
Supply Control
1. Follow approved procedures for receiving product, price marking, and restocking to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation.
2. Check and verify deliveries to ensure that items listed on vendor invoices are all delivered. Check products for quality, count, and condition.
3. Take products to storage areas.
4. Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
5. Ensure that all department personnel accurately record markups and markdowns, in-store use of merchandise, and bad merchandise/spoilage write-offs in accordance with company policies.
6. Use correct pricing as determined by gross margin calculations established for the department.
7. Keep perishable merchandise rotated in accordance with store policy and product code dates and pull out of code merchandise.
8. Maintains inventory logs in accordance with DEA Guidelines.
Security
1. Adhere to company policy pertaining to excessive cash in registers and request cash pickups in accordance with such policy.
2. Take action to control shrinkage and pilferage loses. Observe security standards by staying alert and being aware of customer and employee actions and behavior. Report to store management any abnormal behavior.
3. Ensure that all department registers and equipment have been secured prior to personnel leaving such equipment unattended.
4. Ensure Pharmacy is secure at all times in accordance with company and federal guidelines.
5. Protect company assets at all times.
6. Keep individual payment receipt with you during breaks and lunch periods. Maintenance and Safety
Maintenance and Safety
1. Comply with safety policies and procedures.
2. Maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards in compliance with store policy and state and local health regulations on a regular, ongoing basis.
3. Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance.
4. Ensure that all department equipment is correctly used and maintained in good working order.
5. Immediately advise manager of any maintenance or equipment problems.
Requirements
Education
1. High School Diploma required
2. Retail pharmacy experience preferred
3. Has successfully passed the PTCB Certification and is in good standing. If not currently certified you will be required to become certified

Computer, printer, register, telephone, vials, bottles, caps, graduates, labels, and scales, bags, office supplies, copy & fax machine, medical supplies, medications.
