We are currently looking for a licensed SALON MANAGER - MARKET TRAINER for North and Central NJ.

 

In addition to managing the salon business and servicing clients in their base Ulta salon, the Salon Market Trainer will support the District Manager, General Managers, and Salon Managers in developing salon business in their District.

 

Responsibilities of a Salon Market Trainer include but are not limited to conducting classes and new Salon Manager development days, piloting service protocols and sales event strategies, and communicating with District Managers and VPs to ensure that the training programs delivered are effective in improving the business skills and/or knowledge of all levels of store/salon management.

 

Salon Management and Hair Stylist experience are required. Multi unit or high volume salon management experience is preferred.

Requirements
General Summary & Scope

v       Promoting and implementing operations, recruiting, guest service and business building training, on behalf of ULTA, while following all company policies and procedures.

v       Responsible for meeting or exceeding salon and pro-hair sales budget through staff recruiting and productivity development; salon service promotions; and salon service demonstrations.  Responsible for creating an environment that maintains and exceeds standards of excellence in Guest Service, client retention skills, staff technical proficiency, and professional hair care recommendations.  Primary contact for all salon personnel.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

v       Responsible for the management of all store/salon personnel including (but not limited to) recruitment, training, product knowledge and skills development, loss prevention knowledge, performance management, safety, recognition, and legal compliance.

v       Meets or exceeds salon financial metrics including; service revenue, average ticket, guest count, guest retention, rebooking, skin treatments, pro hair retail revenue , retention/turnover and contribution goals

v       Managed multiple and/or mid-to high volume location(s) with employee team at least 10 associates.

v       Demonstrates business acumen, with a strong understanding of salon financial reporting and key business drivers and can identify opportunities for growth with in own location.

v       Demonstrates the ability to develop strong recruiting strategy and on-going execution.  Internal candidates understand the mechanics of sales per labor hour and how it drives staffing and scheduling for growth.  They would have consistently maintained their headcount and hours at goal and their sales per labor hours above $23.00. 

v       Demonstrates exception knowledge of ULTA Salon Operations Development training; especially Guest Networking and Conversion.

v       Demonstrates high standards for customer service and salon image standards, internal candidates would exemplify ULTA standards and consistently delivers ULTA Experience service model.

v       Demonstrates the ability manage multiple tasks including; planning, prioritization, and delegation.

v       Demonstrates the ability to actively partner and contribute with various levels of associates/leadership/organization.

v       Leads their current business through growing people, has clear vision of individual team member goals, and has demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills and can verbalize the steps taken to achieve those goals.  Internally, they would have clearly documented Salon Professional Development meetings; can identify what team members need coaching vs. mentoring and have coached an associate through a level jump and can articulate the goals, coaching, and behaviors that moved the salon professional through the level jump; in their location.  This would be demonstrated by increased associate productivity, clear measurable goals, monthly SPDM and annual performance appraisals.

v       Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills; able to break information down into clear concise steps using various vehicles of communication including conference calls, email, team meetings, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching. 

v       Leads district execution of salon operations/business building initiatives to drive key business indicators within timeline given

v       Participates in development on-going location and market roadmap including leading the execution of all salon services directed initiatives; including operations and business training, in a consistent format as directed by ULTA and with in given deadlines support delivering salon sales and contribution targets.

v       Conducts on boarding and training for General Managers and Salon Managers assimilate to the salon business.

v       Pilot service protocols and sale event strategies including new operation processes and new service pilots/launches.

v       Ability to facilitate training to various size audiences and coach operational salon skills to achieve results.

v       Completes all necessary paperwork to support class activities including enrollment, feedback and expense reports adhering to designated timelines.

v       Ensures that all internal/external product and technical training classes are attended.

v       Supports all ULTA policies as related to in-salon communication, service, image, dress code and professionalism.

 

Job Specifications

v       Cosmetology school graduate, 5 yrs. relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

v       Cosmetology license.

v       4 yrs. salon management experience, (management license, as required by state law).

v       2 yrs multi-unit experience (preferred)

v       Master Designer 1 level (preferred)

v       Demonstrates advanced competency in salon sales, products and service.

v       Demonstrated knowledge of State board of Cosmetologists’ regulations and hiring requirements.

v       Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

v       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

v       Ability to build a strong and productive team environment.

v       Salon training experience (preferred).

v       Developed and polished presentation skills (preferred).

v       Ability to maintain and present a fashionable, professional image (well groomed, clean, fashion forward).

v       Ability to build and maintain good interpersonal relationships.

v       Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  Special Position Requirements

v       Occasional travel required.

Working Conditions

v       On a regular basis, requires the ability to walk.

v       On a regular basis, requires the ability to reach with hands and arms.

v       On a regular basis, requires the ability to stand for a minimum of 6 -8 hours.

v       On a regular basis, requires the ability to lift and/or move 50 lbs.

v       On a regular basis, ability to tolerate salon chemicals and fragrances (e.g., fumes, shampoos, sprays, etc.)

v       On an occasional basis, requires the ability to climb a ladder and balance.

v       On a frequent basis, requires the ability to stoop, kneel and crouch.
