Description

Our Client, a leading Credit Rating and Research firm is looking for a VP/Accounting Specialist to support their Research Analysts in the Rating Process.

• Develop strong relationships with Managing Director and all senior analysts within assigned industry teams
• Be regularly sought after by analysts for assistance with complex accounting and financial reporting issues
• Assume complete responsibility for the financial reporting issues of companies within several industries
• Identify companies that are most at risk of aggressive reporting and credit relevant reporting issues
• Regularly surface company specific credit relevant accounting / financial reporting issues
• Perform company-specific analysis of complex accounting / financial reporting issues so we are ready with a point of view by the time of rating committee discussion
• Articulate a well reasoned point of view on the appropriate credit rating at rating committee meetings
• Win respect of rated companies’ management for insight and competence at meetings discussing accounting-related issues
• Oversees or drafts credit research that is insightful, relevant and requires minimal revision upon review
Produce Topical Accounting Research for Clients
• Identify credit-relevant topics that merit our time and sells the concept and value
• Produce research that is the best in the marketplace at explaining the linkage between an accounting issue and market perceptions of credit risk
• Develop the reputation among our analysts and outsiders as a thought leader on several credit-relevant reporting issues
Participate in External Outreach Activities
• Generate opportunities for high profile presentations to key constituencies
• Be recognized externally for expertise in specific areas
• Respond to questions from investors and the press on our company specific and topical research
• Lead discussions with investors and management in senior positions
Requirements 10+ years experience with a good technical accounting background, and excellent report writing, research and analytical skills.  A thorough understanding of current trends in financial analysis and accounting, particularly in corporate/industrial and/or financial institutions sectors. Demonstrated ability to write/publish and to present before professional audiences.
BA/BS, preferably in accounting or finance; CPA / CFA / MBA are all desirable.
